The New Year 2023 message of the ARA

Dear ARA members and friends, and admirers
of Romanian values:
My involvement with ARA has been very
long. I was the General Chair of an ARA congress in 1992, in the Los Angeles
area at California State University, Northridge, CSUN.
This year is coming to an end, and I wish
to remind you that in Romania 2022 was declared (by law No. 19, in January
2021) as the “Smaranda Brăescu” year. ARA celebrated Smaranda in California, in
October 2022 with several events.
During the Covid-restrictions years, ARA
had numerous events: six ARA 2021 Zoom Minisimposia on literature, linguistics,
film, sciences and aviation, and three online musical miniconcerts as gifts for
ARA members.
It is also my pleasure to announce the
revival of the ARA Newsletter, starting this January 2023 after a gap of
numerous years. The newsletter will be used as a means to communicate
information about Romanian values and events, and ARA members are invited to
contribute with news about their achievements. All active ARA members will
receive the newsletter monthly via email as a membership benefit.
In this period, when the Pandemic has
blocked us, the war in Ukraine is still troubling us, the economy is in crisis
all over the globe, flames of conflict have ignited and are burning everywhere,
costs have increased and so has inflation, we must conserve our energy and optimism
and wish and hope that this Year 2023 and the ones that follow will be better,
brighter. Ever since the world existed on this earth, it has gone through
crises and wars, but still the Phoenix is reborn.

world and for ARA. Let’s keep it at high academic level its founders strived
for, and remain united.
