De mai bine de cinci decenii, Congresul Mondial al Poeților (WCP) a fost un simbol viu al dialogului și păcii prin poezie, adunând voci de pe toate continentele pentru a celebra puterea cuvântului. La conducerea sa se află Maria del Pilar Martinez Nandin, poetă mexicană și lider cultural care face parte din organizație de 18 ani. Sub președinția sa, WCP continuă să își mențină misiunea: de a promova înțelegerea reciprocă, creșterea spirituală și conexiunea umană într-o lume fragmentată. În urma succesului celui de-al 44-lea Congres Mondial al Poeților, desfășurat la Monterrey, Mexic, Maria del Pilar Martinez Nandin reflectă asupra rolului durabil al poeziei în secolul XXI.

Iată un interviu cu Doamna Maria del Pilar Martinez Nandin:

 

1. Întrebare (Î): - Dna Matinez, conduceți una dintre cele mai respectate și longevive organizații poetice din lume - Congresul Mondial al Poeților. Cum ați descrie pe scurt misiunea acestui Congres, la mai bine de cincizeci de ani de la înființare?

Răspuns (A): - Cred că misiunea WCP este de a face din scris memoria umanității, iar poezia poate încapsula tratate și studii complexe în versuri simple. Mai mult, în diferite limbi, putem descoperi un mediu și o cultură care sunt atât nefamiliare, cât și foarte asemănătoare cu ceea ce caută toate ființele umane: să ne recunoaștem emoțiile și să transmitem sentimente și, utilizând sensibilitatea noastră, să găsim empatie cu ceilalți.

 

2. Î: - Sunteți membră al WCP de 18 ani. Ce v-a atras prima dată la această comunitate poetică și cum v-a transformat propria călătorie ca poet?

R: - Ca profesor de literatură și limba spaniolă, am devenit interesată să mă alătur unui grup axat pe alte limbi pentru a dobândi o mai bună înțelegere a literaturii universale.

 

3. Î: - Cel de-al 44-lea Congres Mondial al Poeților a avut loc recent la Monterrey, Mexic, reunind 120 de poeți din 19 națiuni. Din perspectiva dumneavoastră de președinte global, cu ce a contribuit această ediție la spiritul și continuitatea WCP?

R: - Cred că la recentul Congres desfășurat la Monterrey am contribuit cu un sentiment de solidaritate și unitate care a fost îmbogățit și consolidat de faptul că am avut parte de un Congres foarte prietenos, unul bogat în calitatea expresiei poetice. De asemenea, am integrat artele, cum ar fi pictura și alte forme de expresie spirituală. În plus, am avut ocazia să aflăm despre carierele unor scriitori renumiți din întreaga lume și am depășit bariera lingvistică utilizând traducerea simultană în unele prezentări.

 

4. Î: - WCP promovează pacea, înțelegerea între națiuni și dialogul cultural prin poezie. Într-o lume marcată de conflicte și diviziuni, cum poate poezia să servească în continuare drept punte pentru reconciliere și speranță?

R: - În cadrul WCP #44, am atins o mai bună înțelegere unii față de alții. Nu există nicio îndoială că granițele se dizolvă în căldura unei îmbrățișări. Ne-am reunit cu colegi reprezentând 19 națiuni diferite, toți discutând despre sentimentele pozitive și valorile semnificative ale umanității. Prin urmare, cred că obiectivul de a promova o coexistență pașnică și îmbogățitoare a fost atins cu succes.

 

5. Î: - Ați întâlnit și ați colaborat cu poeți de pe toate continentele. Ce esență comună ați descoperit între poeți, indiferent de cultură sau limbă?

R: - În timpul călătoriilor mele pe continentul american, Europa și Asia, am întâlnit la colegii mei poeți dragostea lor profundă pentru înțelepciune; scrierile și filosofia lor mă uimește. Mai mult, am experimentat sentimentul de grijă față de planetă și sunt continuu surprinsă de modul în care contribuie la această cauză și de modul în care facem împreună ca Pământul să fie un loc mai bun de trăit.

 

6. Î: - În calitate de președinte, cum reușiți să păstrați unitatea și spiritul viu al WCP într-o lume literară din ce în ce mai diversă și condusă de tehnologie?

R: - Cred că va fi crucial ca consiliul WCP să selecteze țara sau locațiile evenimentelor, asigurându-se că există un președinte gazdă cu o echipă competentă pentru a valorifica tehnologia în favoarea evenimentului. Această persoană ar trebui să fie organizatoare și să mențină un contact strâns cu voluntarii care pot ajuta, facilitând o desfășurare lină a evenimentului. Când ne înțelegem cu toții, se obțin rezultate mai bune; eu am fost doar președinte gazdă.

 

7. Î: - Mulți scriitori cred că în era inteligenței artificiale, poezia a devenit un act de rezistență spirituală. Împărtășiți această opinie?

R: - Sunt îngrijorată de Inteligența Artificială. Numele ei poartă un sentiment de irealitate, ceva ce nu este. Poezia nu poate fi doar un mozaic de opinii; trebuie să fie o expresie directă a spiritului. Cred că, din moment ce spiritul, mintea și rațiunea sunt ingredientele umane principale, individualitatea este dreptul nostru, iar poezia trebuie să rămână individuală, personală și autentică. Deși poate fi reprezentată artificial ca o imagine, nu poate fi cuvântul pe care inima îl dictează.

 

8. Î: - În opinia dumneavoastră, care este rolul poetului în secolul XXI? Mai are cuvântul puterea de a trezi conștiințele, așa cum o făcea odinioară?

R: - Cred că poeții au o misiune atemporală, una pe care nu o putem abandona: „să facem din cuvinte un adevărat instrument de comunicare”. Fără poezie, Cuvântul este deposedat de podoabele sale, lipsit de sensul interior care sălășluiește în inimă. Poeții vor continua să existe pentru că atâta timp cât există ochi să citească, scrisul trebuie să persiste.

 

9. Î: - Din perspectiva WCP, cum este percepută poezia românească? Ce impresii au lăsat poeții români la congresele trecute?

R: - Poeții și artiștii români au făcut o impresie pozitivă la WCP #44. Au fost chiar însoțiți de Consulul României, care a inaugurat expoziția de artă. Poetul și artistul, care s-a remarcat ca un prieten, a împărtășit cu generozitate detalii despre țara sa cu noi. Nu pot vorbi în numele altor congrese, deoarece nu am participat la unele dintre ele, dar de data aceasta, participarea a fost cu adevărat extraordinară.

 

10. Î: - Ce proiecte viitoare plănuiește WCP să dezvolte pentru a consolida dialogul poetic internațional - în special între generații?

10. R: - Nu sunt la curent cu noile proiecte pe care le-ar putea avea WCP, dar cred că se oferă oportunități pentru tineri de integrare. Cred că o acțiune benefică ar fi oferirea de burse pentru a le permite să participe la întâlnirile noastre. Deocamdată, la nivel local, în țara mea, continuăm să ne adunăm în asociații artistice.

 

11. Î: Cât de important este pentru dumneavoastră personal ca poezia să rămână înrădăcinată nu doar în estetică, ci și în valori morale și spirituale?

R: - Misiunea poeziei este de a ilumina comportamentul și sensibilitatea sufletului colectiv. Ea reprezintă întâlnirea dintre „eul” și „tu” și „noi”. Prin poezie, există o recunoaștere autentică a emoțiilor care sălășluiesc în inima umană. Poezia este limbajul spiritului și, pentru a-l întări, trebuie să continuăm să scriem ceea ce dictează inima.

 

12. Î: - În cele din urmă, ce mesaj ați dori să împărtășiți cu poeții din întreaga lume - și cu cei care văd poezia ca o formă de libertate supremă?

R: - În final, prietenilor mei poeți, doresc să le transmit convingerea mea că trebuie să ne unim și să menținem vie flacăra scrisului poetic. Trebuie să împărtășim, să coexistăm și să sporim ceea ce ne diferențiază ca ființe umane. Sensibilitatea, înțelepciunea și filosofia noastră de viață ar trebui să strălucească în poezie.

For more than five decades, the World Congress of Poets (WCP)  has been a living symbol of dialogue and peace through poetry, gathering voices from every continent to celebrate the power of the word.                                                                                       

At its helm stands Maria del Pilar Martinez Nandin, a Mexican poet and cultural leader who has been part of the organization for 18 years. Under her presidency, WCP continues to up hold its mission: to foster mutual understanding, spiritual growth, and human connection in a fragmented world.                                                                   

Following the successful 44 th World Congress of Poets, held in Monterrey, Mexico, Maria del Pilar Martinez Nandin reflects on the enduring role of poetry in the 21 st century.

 

Here is an interview with Ms. Maria del Pilar Martinez Nandin:

1.Question (Q): - Mrs. Matinez, you lead one of the most respected and long – lasting poetic organizations in the world – the World Congress of Poets.                                                  

How would you briefly describe the mission of this Congress, more than fifty years after its founding?                                                        

Answer (A): - I believe that the mission of the WCP is to make writing the memory of humanity, and poetry can encapsulate complex treaties and studies in simple verses. Furthermore, in different languages, we can discover an environment and a culture that is both unfamiliar and yet very similar to what all human beings seek: to acknowledge our emotions and to convey feelings, and by utilizing our sensitivity, find empathy with others.

 

2. Q: - You have been a member of the WCP for 18 years.                                          

What first drew you to this poetic community, and how has it transformed your own journey as a poet?

A: - As a teacher of Literature and Spanish Language, I became interested in joining a group focused on other languages to gain a better understanding of universal literature.

 

 

3. Q: - The 44 th World Congress of Poets was recently held in Monterrey, Mexico, bringing together 120 poets from 19 nations.                                                                  

From your perspective as global president, what did this edition contribute to the spirit and continuity of WCP?

 A: - I believe that at the recent Congress held in Monterrey, we contributed a sense of solidarity and unity that was enriched and strengthened by the fact that we experienced a very friendly Congress, one that was abundant in the quality of poetic expression. We also integrated the arts, such as painting and other forms of spiritual expression. Furthermore, we had the opportunity to learn about the careers of renowned writers from around the world, and we broke the language barrier by utilizing simultaneous translation in some presentations.

 

 4. Q: - WCP promotes peace, understanding among nations, and cultural dialogue through poetry.                                                                                                                         

In a world marked by conflict and division, how can poetry still serve as a bridge for reconciliation and hope?

 A: - In WCP #44, we achieved a greater understanding of one another. There is no doubt that boundaries dissolve in the warmth of an embrace. We had reunions with colleagues representing 19 different personalities, all discussing the positive feelings and the significant values of humanity. Therefore, I believe that the goal of fostering a peaceful and enriching coexistence was successfully accomplished.

 

5. Q: - You have met and collaborated with poets from all continents.                                                                                                  

What common essence have you discovered among true poets, regardless of culture or language?

A: - During my travels across the American continent, Europe, and Asia, I have encountered in my fellow poets their profound love for wisdom; their writings and philosophy leave me in awe. Furthermore, I have experienced the sentiment of caring for the planet, and I am continually surprised by how they contribute to this cause and how we are collectively making the Earth a better place to live.

 

6. Q: - As president, how do you manage to preserve the unity and living spirit of WCP in a literary world that is increasingly diverse and technologically driven?

A: - I believe it will be crucial for the WCP board to select the country or locations for the events, ensuring that there is a host president with a competent team to leverage technology in favor of the event. This individual should be an organizer and maintain close contact with volunteers who can assist, facilitating a smooth event flow. When we all understand each other, better results are achieved; I was merely a host president.

 

7. Q: - Many writers believe that in the age of artificial intelligence, poetry has become an act of spiritual resistance.                                                                                               

Do you share that view?

A: - I am concerned about Artificial Intelligence. Its name carries a sense of unreality, something that is not. Poetry cannot merely be a patchwork of opinions; it must be a direct expression of the spirit. I believe that since spirit, mind, and reason are the primary human ingredients, individuality is our right, and poetry must remain individual, personal, and genuine. While it can be artificially represented as an image, it cannot be the word that the heart dictates.

 

8. Q: In your opinion, what is the poet’s role in the 21 st century?                                          

Does the word still have the power to awaken consciences, as it once did?

A: - I believe that poets have a timeless mission, one that we cannot abandon: "to make words a true instrument of communication." Without poetry, The Word is stripped of its adornments, devoid of the inner meaning that resides in the heart. Poets will continue to exist because as long as there are eyes to read, writing must persist.

 

9. Q: - From the perspective of WCP, how is Romanian poetry perceived?                                

What impressions have Romanian poets left at past congresses?

 A: - The Romanian poets and artists made a positive impression at WCP #44. They were even accompanied by the Consul of Romania, who inaugurated the art exhibition. The poet and artist, who stood out as a friend, generously shared details about his country with us. I cannot speak for other congresses, as I have not attended some of them, but this time, the participation was truly extraordinary.

10. Question: - What future projects does WCP plan to develop to strengthen international poetic dialogue – especially between generations?    

 A: -  I am unaware of the new projects that WCP may have, but I believe that opportunities are being provided for young individuals to integrate. I think a beneficial action would be to offer scholarships to enable them to attend our meetings. For now, at the local level, within my country, we continue to gather in artistic associations.

 

11. Q: How important is it to you personally that poetry remain rooted not only in aesthetics, but also in moral and spiritual values? 

 A: - The mission of poetry is to illuminate the behavior and sensitivity of the collective soul. It represents the meeting of the "I" with the "you" and the "We." Through poetry, there is a genuine acknowledgment of the emotions that reside in the human heart. Poetry is the language of the spirit, and to strengthen it, we must continue to write what the heart dictates.

 

12. Q: - Finally, what message would you like to share with poets around the world – and with those who see poetry as a form of ultimate freedom? 

A: Finally, to my poet friends, I wish to convey my belief that we must come together and keep the flame of poetic writing alive. We need to share, coexist, and enhance what sets us apart as human beings. Sensitivity, wisdom, and our philosophy of life should shine through in poetry.
