Epigonilor ce peste fila albă mâzgălesc

Și-au asediat cu tocul, sfânt altar aprins de vers,

Bieți imitatori ai celor ce pe scut au apărat

Muza sfântă-a poeziei: câte lupte ați purtat?

Câți din voi urmând pe Apollo, casă, masă ați lăsat

Exilați de o idee, numai pentru c-ați visat?

Apărând cuvântul, schije, câte-n piept v-au sfârtecat

Rămânând în veșnicie, elizeelor soldați?

Calliope cea isteață, Euterpe ce cânta,

Clio cea cu cartea în mână sau Erato-au fost cumva

Muzele ce vă mânară epic gen a înălța

De v-ați erijat pe viață, corifei pe scena sa?

Epigoni-n a căror coruri și eu cânt din lira mea,

Nu-înjosiți dăltuitorii ce-n cuvinte au pus stea

Și nu prigoniți aezii, altfel Teba va cădea!

Glorioaselor cuvinte, nu le ștergeți aura!

Iar când imitând Poeții, pana voastră va reda

Câte un fragment ilustru, nu puneți peceți. Veți da

Persefonei biruri multe din infern vrând a scăpa.

Însă timpul nu vă iartă! Are judecata sa!

Epigons

Epigons that over the white tab doodle

They besieged themselves with the heel, holy altar lit by the verse,

Poor imitators of those who defended the shield

Holy muse of poetry: how many fights have you fought?

How many of you following Apollo, house, table have you left

Exiled from an idea, just because you dreamed?

Defending the word, shrapnel, how many have broken your chest

Staying forever, Eliza soldiers?

Smart calliope, Euterpe singing,

Clio the one with the book in hand or Erato - were they somehow

The muses that handle you epic like to rise

Why did you erry for life, corpses on its stage?

Epigons in whose choirs I sing from my lira,

Don't demean the people who put the star in words

And don't persecute these, otherwise Thebes will fall!

Glorious words, don't delete their aura!

And when imitating Poets, your feather will restore

An illustrious fragment, do not seal. You will give

Persephone's victory, many of the inferno want to escape.

But time does not forgive you! He has his judgement!
